Stadium honoured in steel design awards
The Olympic Stadium has been honoured in this year’s Structural Steel Design Awards.
The Olympic Stadium has been honoured in this year’s Structural Steel Design Awards.
Commenting on the venue, which was completed by the company last year, the judges said:
“The requirement for a severe reduction in capacity after the Olympics has resulted in a lean design… The architecture provides clarity to the structure, and its subsequent disassembly.”
Two further projects delivered by the company, the McLaren Production Centre in Woking and the Commonwealth Sports Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, were shortlisted for an award, the former receiving a Commendation.
The awards celebrate the UK’s excellence in the field of steel construction.
